Hi, my name is Khatia, and I'm the person behind Daily Daring
The Day Everything Changed #1
I was 17 years old when I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes.
For about a month before my diagnosis, I was losing weight without trying. I was constantly thirsty, eating more than usual, experiencing vision problems, and feeling incredibly weak.
It was also the time when I was preparing to enter Tbilisi State Medical
University—a completely new chapter of my life was about to begin.
My mother noticed that something was wrong and decided to take me to a doctor.
And then came the moment that changed everything.
I still remember sitting in my endocrinologist's office, hearing the words "Type 1 Diabetes."
I remember the devastating feeling.
I remember the tears in my eyes.
And I remember thinking:
"This is the end."
At 17, I didn't know what my life with diabetes would look like. I didn't know about insulin pumps, CGMs, carb counting, glucose management, or any of the things that
would later become part of my everyday life.
But I wasn't alone.
My parents and my
Friends stood beside me most. They gave me the strength to accept this new reality—and eventually, to fight for my life, my dreams, and the future I wanted.
I didn't know it that day, but my diagnosis wasn't the end of my story.
It was the beginning of a completely different one.
And this is where my story begins <3
Becoming a Doctor #2
The same year I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, I entered Tbilisi State Medical University. Life was so hard—I used to measure my blood sugar with only a glucometer, because in Georgia, CGM systems weren't imported yet. I still can't believe I'm writing this—how crazy that was!
I still remember how strange it felt at medical university. I was learning about the human body while simultaneously trying to understand what was happening inside my own. Diabetes made me ask more questions. It made me curious. And eventually, it became one of the reasons I chose endocrinology.
What once felt like the worst thing that had happened to me slowly became something that shaped the person—and the doctor—I was becoming.

Why Diabetes Jewellery? #3
Five years later, when I started wearing a CGM, there was one thing I never felt comfortable with.
For years, I wanted to hide my diabetes technology.
I would think about how to cover my CGM, how to make it less noticeable, how to make it fit under different clothes.
Not because I was ashamed of having type 1 diabetes.
But because I wanted to feel like myself.
I wanted my diabetes devices to fit into my style—not the other way around.
And eventually I thought:
Why shouldn't something I wear every day be beautiful too?
That little thought became the beginning of Daily Daring. 💙
The Meaning Behind Daily Daring #4
What does Daily Daring mean?
For me, being daring isn't always about doing something extraordinary.
Sometimes it's simply waking up and doing it all again.
Counting the carbs.
Taking the insulin.
Checking the numbers.
Going to the gym.
Going to work.
Chasing your dreams.
Living your life.
Every single day.
That's what Daily Daring means to me.
A reminder that courage doesn't always look big.
Sometimes, it looks like simply showing up for yourself every day. 💙
And that's the feeling I want every piece we create to carry.
